Most, if not all actors have come across a person who asks them what their ‘real’ job is. The actors and actresses will agree that it is one of the most irking questions they have to respond to while pursuing their careers.

NTV comedian, Dr.King’ori, a man who has made a name for himself on TV, knows exatly how difficult it is to overcome this enduring societal stigma against creatives.

On Friday, September 27, during a live show on the station, the comedian, who also doubles up as a presenter, recalled a time when his parents chased him from home due to his career choice.

He disclosed that his parents wanted him to work for a construction company, while he wanted to be an actor.

“I was sent to exile in 2009 by my father because I decided to do acting. I was doing set books back then and then they got this job with a construction company.

“I was Miguna in 2009, I was forced to leave my home and show my parents that I could make money while pursuing something else because I declined to follow the path that had been chosen for me,” he stated.

The comedian added that he had to make a deal with his mother so that he could pursue comedy.

“I made a deal with her. I asked her to give me two years to do comedy and if I fail to show results, I would go back to secondary school,” he disclosed.

Dr. King’ori concluded by stating that he did not have to go back to school as his comedy career has sustained him throughout the years.

He ventured into professional comedy in 2010 when he realized he could get paid for it.
