They turned up in hundreds for the 25th memorial service of the lost souls during the 1998 bombing in Nairobi. Victims, relatives of the deceased, maimed, blind, victims in clutches crying for justice as they commemorated 7th August 1998.
As leaders of Azimio joined the victims, they had one cry to the American embassy for compensation to victims and relatives of the deceased. Sharp Martha Karua’s commitment to justice gave the victims hope maybe someday they will attain much-anticipated justice. Accompanied by Kalonzo Musyoka, their presence gave the victims strength, empathy and hope.
Speaking with one voice during the event at the bomblast site, the leaders called for unity and a sense of oneness to combat terrorism and other unlawful acts of violence. This has caused our country and other countries to lose significant human lives, causing harm and considerable loss.
As they laid the wreaths, it brought memories of loss, pain and grief. It was like yesterday. The victims’ pain was renewed and evident in their facial expressions. It was a sober moment. The memorial service served as a poignant reminder that political leaders can set aside their differences and stand together in times of sorrow, providing a glimmer of hope for national healing and reconciliation.
Kalonzo Musyoka and Martha Karua showed unity amidst political temperatures in the country. It was a day of consolation and comfort to all affected, putting aside the political divide to console and comfort. Show of humanity and solace they gave the victims hope.
