Tanzanian Bongo star Diamond Platinumz was paid Sh. 4 million to come and perform in Kenya, and like the superstar diva he is, he demanded an extra one million for going all the way to Meru county on Saturday, August 27. This brought his total figure to Sh. 5 million!

According to one of the directors who spoke to entertainment site Ghafla, Diamond charged an extra million shillings because of the 270 km distance he had to travel.

According to the artiste’s management contracts with clients, anyone who wants Diamond to perform outside Tanzania has to part with KSh 4 million.

The event organizers have to prepare to cater for a team of 10 that travel with the bongo hit-maker as well as transportation, accommodation and performance fee.

In total, Diamond took home KSh 5 million for his Meru concert. His contract stated he strictly performs for two and a half hours.

The KSh 4 million only covers performance according to a contract seen by the entertainment site.

“Our performance fee is USD 40,000 per show at the Moment bt if you delay to book us until we release our new Track on the middle of this Month there will be an increase of USD 5,000,” read the contract as quoted on the entertainment site.

On any performance, Diamond requires an organizer to have booked four double rooms, one single room and a presidential suite for the artiste.

However, his trip to Kenya was not without problems. A planned interview on Citizen TV gave rise to the threat of legal action by KTN because Standard Group were the media partners for the event.

After the concert, Diamond remained stranded in Nairobi after event organisers miscommunicated his flight schedule information, forcing the artiste to seek accommodation for another 24 hours.
