Despite serving a player transfer ban, AFC Leopards are reportedly interested in Congolese forward Donald Ange, who is currently the leading scorer for Mathare United in the Kenyan Premier League.
Ange had trained with Leopards earlier in the year, but was not signed due to coach Patrick Aussems not believing in his abilities.
However, with the mid-season transfer window now open, Leopards have reportedly joined the race to sign Ange, along with Kariobangi Sharks and reigning champions Tusker FC.
Ange confirmed that he has been approached by three clubs, including Leopards, and has asked them to negotiate with Mathare United before discussing personal terms.
“Three clubs including Leopards have expressed interest in my services. I have asked the interested clubs to negotiate with Mathare and then, reach out so that we can agree on personal terms,” he revealed as quoted by Mozzart sports.
Ange had previously played for Hakati Sportif, a Nairobi-based team in the regional league, before joining Mathare United last year. He then had a brief stint in the Somalia Premier League before returning to Mathare United for the current season. The striker has so far scored six goals in 15 appearances, making him the club’s top scorer.
