Meet the little-known lady who owns Diamond Platnumz’s Wasafi Media empire

The ownership dispute surrounding Diamond Platnumz’s media empire, Wasafi Media, has been a subject of considerable speculation and debate within Tanzania’s entertainment industry.

While Diamond Platnumz has long been associated with the media conglomerate, recent revelations shed light on the true owner behind the scenes.

Juhayna Zaghalulu Ajmy, a prominent figure in Tanzania’s business landscape and the wife of Cloud’s FM and entrepreneur Joseph Kusaga, emerges as the driving force behind Wasafi Media.

She holds the controlling stake of 53 percent in the company.

Diamond himself admitted in a candid interview that he isn’t the sole proprietor of the media empire, contrary to previous assertions.

“It’s good to see more artistes investing in media and I would urge more artistes who have the opportunity to do so and it shouldn’t be just in media. We as artistes have to change this narrative that we’re not smart. You can never completely rely on music alone to generate income and that’s why I’m always investing in different businesses,” Diamond revealed.

The singer continued, “And when you’re in it, sometimes you’ll hear people say he’s not the sole owner of that business, but that’s the point, business is all about partnerships. That’s why businesses are called companies, which means a group of individuals or entities in one.”

His ownership stands at 45 percent.

Ali Kahatib Dai completes the trio of shareholders, holding the remaining two percent of Wasafi Media.
