A toxic person will be doing his utmost to hide his real character until you are too committed. The following are red flags in my opinion:
- Location to meet. Make sure it is always in a crowdy place. Have your own transport.
- Asking you about your strengths and weaknesses. Please avoid this question at all costs. Your weaknesses may be used against you very soon.
- Relationships with his own family. If they are not good – try to find out why?
- Too much affection in the beginning stages – overly attentive. This is fake. Watch out. Affection grows gradually in healthy people.
- Feels like you met your soul mate on the first date. Be careful narcissists are really clever at this.
- A partner creating drama over insignificant issues
- Asking for intimacy in the beginning stages. Red flag.
- Cuts you off whilst you are talking. Not once but a good number of times.
- Liars – be vigilant. A relationship will always collapse when based on lies.
- Look at his Facebook account. Try to make an independent impression preferably before you meet him on the first date.
- Sometimes a google search of a name can give you surprising information. Better be a detective than a victim.
- How does he treat others – the waiter during your dinner etc.
- His attitude during traffic jams.
- Does your partner have a particular talent for turning the tables on you? Watch out!
I am sure that there are many more and some toxic people are real fakers. So at times, no matter how careful you are, that toxic person may be professional enough in his trade, to lure you into abuse.
Just pay attention to your gut instinct. If something does not add up, run as fast as you can.
