Ndung’u was arrested together with three other criminals. However, one of the suspects who was identified as Shikuku managed to escape. The police recovered two fake pistols and an assortment of stolen goods. The goods included three television sets, sub-woofers, speakers and drums.

Ndung’u and Shikuku were the remaining members of a gang of four notorious criminals who were led by the late Kennedy Kinyanjui.

Kinyanjui was gunned down by the police along Mombasa Road in August 2016 together with five others. Ndung’u was said to have escaped with Alex Mbugua. However, a few months later, Alex Mbugua was gunned down in Nanyuki.

The gang led by Kinyanjui and Ndung’u had been caught on CCTv camera stealing from an M-Pesa shop in Kinoo on June 4. The CCTV clip was later broadcast on local television channel NTV. Three days earlier, Kinyanjui had murdered his aunt in cold blood after suspecting that he was snitching on his activities.
