Vihiga Queens Say No Deals Yet For Incoming Signings

Vihiga Queens head coach Boniface Nyamu Nyamu has denied reports that new signings have joined them in camp ahead of the new Kenya Women’s Premier League season.

Reports suggested centre back Phoebe Aketch and fullback Vivian Namasaka have rejoined the champions who are keen to strengthen their squad in preparation for the Cecafa Women’s Club Championships.

Other players who have been linked to the four-time Kenyan champions include Bungoma Queens duo Tumaini Waliaula and Martha Karani alongside Mathare United Women’s winger Eunice Mwangi.

Speaking to Citizen Digital, Nyamunyamu confirmed they are monitoring the players but none has been signed yet.

“When you identify a player you must know their fitness levels and that’s what we are doing at the moment. As per now we only have our players in the camp.

“There are details we have to complete with the said players because you can’t unveil them until the processes are completed. You can’t unveil a player who is still attached to another team,” he said.

Vihiga Queens are expected to unveil the squad that will head to the regional competition in Kampala, Uganda after their pre-season training which is expected to elapse next weekend.

This will be the second time Vihiga Queens will be participating in the competition and will be looking to recapture the title they won in 2021 after missing out last year following Kenya’s FIFA ban.
