Uhuru’s final Madaraka day celebrations

    This year’s 59th Madaraka Day celebrations were held at the new Uhuru Gardens National Monument and Museum.

    Kenyans, leaders and dignitaries were at the event whose key highlight was President Uhuru Kenyatta’s address to the nation.

    Madaraka Day is marked every 1st June in remembrance of the day in 1963 when Kenya attained internal self-rule from the British colonial government.
