Two People Arrested at DCI Headquarters Posing as Military Intelligence

Two suspects were arrested by Directorate of Criminal Investigations (DCI) detectives for trying to get assistance while posing as high-ranking intelligence officers.

According to a statement released on Friday, the suspects visited the DCI headquarters along Kiambu Road and tried to pose as officers from the Directorate of Military Intelligence and National Intelligence Service respectively.

They asked for assistance in arresting an unnamed individual supposedly involved in money fraud, citing frustrations from the investigation officer in trying to identify the said suspect.

The DCI detectives, however, asked the two to provide their identification documents, which they were unable to produce.

“The duo had thought that they would outwit the crime busters when they claimed they hadn’t carried them,” the statement read in part.

“Hence they were subjected to further background checks where it was established that they were impersonating leading to their arrest and subsequent arraignment.”

Upon further investigations by the crime detectives, it was discovered that the duo were part of a large crime syndicate purportedly involved in a spree of fraud crimes against the public.

“Preliminary investigations reveal that the two are part of a group of swindlers who have been defrauding unsuspecting members of the public,” the statement continued.

The officers have advised members of the public who may have fallen victim to the suspected fraudsters to report to report at the DCI headquarters.

Officers of the Directorate of Military Intelligence and National Intelligence Service are tasked with detecting and identifying any threats to Kenya.

They are also the first-in-line advisors to the President and the Government concerning any actual or potential security threat to Kenya and protect the country’s interest whether political, military, or economic.
