As the World Championships in Budapest, Hungary draws near, Pulse Sports has conducted an analysis of the potential earnings for Kenyan athletes who are expected to perform exceptionally well at the global event.
Among the standout stars from Kenya heading to Central Europe are triple world record holder Faith Kipyegon, Africa’s fastest man Ferdinand Omanyala, Commonwealth Games 10,000m silver medalist Daniel Simiu, and Kisii Express Mary Moraa, among several others.
World Athletics has allocated a total of Ksh 24,596,000 to reward the top eight finishers in individual events, with the winners set to receive Ksh 10,010,000, and the second-place finishers taking home Ksh 5,005,000.
The third-place finishers will walk away with a whooping Ksh 3,146,000. The athletes who finish fourth and fifth will receive Ksh 2,288,000 and Ksh 1,573,000 respectively. The sixth, seventh, and eighth athletes will be awarded Ksh 1,001,000, Ksh 858,000, and Ksh 715,000 respectively.
