The burial date of the late Cabinet Minister, Simeon Nyachae, has been set for Monday, February 15. The burial will take place in a private ceremony at his home in Nyosia Village, Kisii County.
Government officials are expected to attend the burial of Mzee Nyachae who died on Monday, February 1, after a long illness.
His family confirmed that the funeral service will be held on the same day from 9 am at Nyanturago Stadium, Nyaribari Chache, Kisii County.
Nyachae served in three governments; that of the late Mzee Jomo Kenyatta, President Daniel Arap Moi, and former President Mwai Kibaki.
Nyachae, who also served as MP for Nyaribari Chache Constituency, was actively involved in politics until his retirement in 2007.
His notable career service included a stint as cabinet minister for agriculture and finance.
President Uhuru sent his condolences to the family of Nyanchae.
“I am deeply saddened by the passing away of Mzee Simeon Nyachae, a distinguished son of Kenya, a friend and a man whose contribution to the making of the Kenyan nation will remain with us for eternity” ~Uhuru said.
The Former Prime Minister also mourned Nyachae saying that the Abagusii community had lost one of their illustrious son.
