The Mozzart Bet Cup semifinals are set to take place in May, with AFC Leopards and Kakamega Homeboyz FC scheduled to face off in what promises to be an exciting encounter.
Ahead of the match, Homeboyz Club President Cleophas Shimanyula has dared AFC Leopards, stating that his team will teach them a soccer lesson.
“I will teach AFC LEOPARDS SC a soccer lesson when we meet them for the FKF Cup semifinals, my boys will triumph even if the game is played in a GSU camp, let them ask Kariobangi Sharks how ruthless we are,” Shimanyula confidently declared.
However, Makadara MP Omwera George Aladwa has fired back, claiming that Western Kenya has only one team worth mentioning, and that’s AFC Leopards SC.
Aladwa has promised to mobilize all ‘Chingwe’ fans from all corners of Kenya to show Shimanyula where Kakamega Homeboyz FC belongs.
“mpira sio kwa mdomo,” Aladwa reminded Shimanyula, emphasizing that football is not played with words.
Both AFC Leopards and Kakamega Homeboyz FC have sailed through to the semifinals stage of the Mozzart Bet Cup with resounding victories over Bandari and Kariobangi Sharks respectively.
The quarter-final matches were held at Moi International Sports Centre (MISC), Kasarani in Nairobi, with Leopards thumping 2019 winners Bandari 3-0 and Homeboyz walloping 2018 champions Kariobangi Sharks 6-1 in the early kick-off.
They will now face Homeboyz in the semis in May, and both teams will be looking to claim the coveted title, with the winner representing the country in the CAF Confederation Cup.
