Sheila Kwambox set to leave KISS FM months after Insensitive Comment on Nigerians

Sheila Kwamboka, popularly known as Kwambox, is set to bid farewell to Kiss 100 FM after a year-long stint as a presenter on the station’s breakfast show.

This decision, confirmed by multiple sources, marks the end of her tenure alongside co-host Chito Ndhlovu on The Morning Kiss.

Taking over from Kamene Goro in 2023, Kwambox brought her unique energy and style to the airwaves, contributing to the show’s success and popularity.

Before her time at Kiss 100 FM, Kwambox worked as a presenter on Vybez Radio and Homeboyz Radio.

Additionally, she’s been active in the podcasting sphere, co-hosting a show alongside Kerry Martin and Joyce Maina.

News of Kwambox’s exit comes amidst a wave of transitions in the radio industry.

Recently, Radio Africa Group welcomed former NRG presenters Mwalimu Rachel and DJ Xclusive to its roster, hinting at a broader strategy to rejuvenate its lineup across various stations.

Her exit comes months after Kwambox found herself in some hot soup after making what many term to be insensitive comments while promoting her morning show online.

The energy-packed Kwambox, who normally hypes up her listeners by posting short clips online of her bouncy arrival as she dances along to an upbeat song and speaks directly to the camera, on January 17 posted a video which left a zesty taste in the mouths of many after she appeared to brush off the macabre killing and dismemberment of a 20-year old woman by an alleged Nigerian man along TRM Drive.

While singing and dancing along to popular Afrobeat banger ‘Gwagwalada’, done by Nigerian singers BNXN and Kizz Daniels, Kwambox briefly turned down the volume to make her thoughts clear – “Listen… Even if you guys are not feeling Nigerians this week, I don’t care!” she declared.

While proceeding to shout ‘Kapoww’ – her hype motto – Kwambox went ahead to double down on her sentiments, adding, “Remember this year we said we are being fearless, so whatever you think you’re avoiding…”

Kiss FM deleted the video after the barrage of views and concerns raised by the video.
