Schools in Kenya are set to re-open for the third and final term of the year starting today. And as is wont to happen during the back-to-school week, parents are bound to engage in long queues inside and outside banking halls seeking to settle their children’ school fees.

However, time is money! And to save you time, we looked at some of the avenues you can use to pay fees easily without wasting your time on queues or traveling to a bank. And as we found out, you may no longer need to queue in a banking hall to pay for your school fees anymore. In fact, you can just pay for your child’s fees from the comfort of your own home using Co-operative Bank’s M-Coop mobile platform and MPesa.

To begin with, sending money through the M-Coop platform to a school’s Co-operative Bank account is free. Additionally, once you have sent money, it will immediately reflect on the school’s account. In the same vein, you may pay your child’s school fees to a school’s Co-operative Bank account using the MPesa paybill number 400222.

Nonetheless, there are other alternatives that you can use to settle your bill. For instance, instead of walking into a bank, you may use a Co-op kwa Jirani banking agent. Banking at a Co-op Kwa Jirani agent is as good as banking at a Co-op bank branch.

There is no need therefore to go to the branch to pay for your fees. However, if you use Co-op Kwa Jirani agent, you will need to indicate the student names when making the payment. You may also state before-hand that you are paying fees to the Co-op agent to get full assistance.

During the back-to-school period, supermarkets and school uniform vendors tend to experience a rise in their number of sales. It is also at this time that some parents consume extra money making withdrawals from the ATMs to settle their kids shopping.

In worst case scenarios, some parents lose money as conmen and fraudsters tend to strike at this period. However, you may not need to go through all this if you have a Co-operative Bank ATM Visa card. This card will allow you to make payments for your child’s shopping at no extra cost. So go ahead and try these channels to save on time and money!
