Shabana FC head coach Sammy Okoth has revealed his frustration as his side conceded a goal in stoppage time for the fourth time this season, which left his side losing 1-0 to Kariobangi Sharks courtesy of a Geoffrey Onyango goal.
Shabana have conceded late in the match in all their games this season. In the opening match, they conceded a last-minute goal to Murang’a Seal thanks to Batts Awita.
In their second match of the season, they conceded in the first minute of stoppage time to FC Talanta, but restored parity just moments later.
It was the same story against Kenya Police FC in their third match of the season, where they conceded a goal in the 87th minute but equalized just before the end of the match.
Against Sharks, they conceded in the last minute yet again, but could not find answers, which has left Okoth up in arms.
“The game was not bad because Kariobangi Sharks players are good and we found a way to handle them well,” Shabana coach Sammy Okoth said.
“I am surprised we conceded in the last minute again so as a coach, I find it very funny because it leaves you wondering what else you can do.
“I feel very uncomfortable because there is nothing much I can do to change it again. Maybe someone else should come and try it because I have tried to ensure that every moment is paid keen attention to and that everything is okay, only to concede at the last minute again.”
Shabana have collected just two points from a possible 12 after four league games played, and the fans will start to ask where their first win will come from.
Losing in the last minute will certainly be frustrating, but they are going to have to start keeping their concentration levels up if they want to survive in the league, which they returned to for the first time since 2006.
With such unwavering backing from their dedicated supporters, Sammy Okoth’s men will be gearing up to turn their fortunes around and post positive results in their upcoming clash against AFC Leopards.
