Safaricom Staff Exposed To Covid-19, Branch Closed

Telecommunication giant Safaricom has closed its Thika Road Mall (TRM) branch after a member of staff tested positive for COVID-19.

The employee according to a statement from the firm is currently under isolation and is receiving necessary medical care.

Staff members who were in contact with the patient have also been informed and are currently undergoing screening and counseling.

“The health, safety, and well-being of our staff and customers is our topmost priority. We are fully supporting our affected colleagues and their families, through the recovery period by providing all necessary medical care and psychosocial support required, ensuring their well-being,” Safaricom Chief Executive Officer Peter Ndegwa said.

Visitors to the busy outlet have been advised to seek necessary services at the telco’s outlets nearby until the matter is resolved.

So far, Kenya has confirmed 1888 cases of the novel coronavirus, 464 recoveries, and 63 fatalities.
