Record Kenyan champions Gor Mahia to unveil new partner ahead of Mashemeji derby

Record Kenyan champions Gor Mahia are set to unveil a new partner today ahead of their much-awaited  Mashemeji derby against AFC leopards.

With details of the partnership not yet revealed, Gor Mahia, unveiling the sponsorship today at noon, will aim to become even stronger when they face their arch-rivals at the Nyayo Stadium.

On the other end, Leopards will enter Sunday’s Mashemeji derby against rivals Gor Mahia FC in great form and will feel confident about getting their first league derby win in almost seven years.

On Wednesday, red-hot Ojo Olaniyi fired the winner as AFC Leopards edged Police FC 1-0 in a mid-week FKF Premier League match played at the Nyayo National Stadium in Nairobi.

Wednesday’s result marked the third victory for Leopards, who now move one place to dislodge Police in seventh on the league standings.

Cliff Nyakeya teed up Olaniyi from inside the box for the Nigerian to tap into an empty net in the 72nd minute.

In other matches, Nzoia Sugar were 2-1 winners over struggling Vihiga Bullets as they kept pace with league leaders Tusker FC who drew 0-0 at home against Ulinzi Stars.

Kakamega Homeboyz settled for a one-all draw against Sofapaka FC, with Ali Bhai and Ambrose Sifuna trading the goals. At the same time, Kariobangi Sharks defeated Bandari FC 1-0 thanks to Shariff Musa’s winner at Kasarani Annex.

At Nyayo, Musa Saad’s substitution proved the turning point as he did extremely well to beat a crowded midfield and find Nyakeya, who set up Olaniyi for the winner.
