Prime Suspect in Kware Killings Arrested

On Monday, police said they had made a breakthrough in the investigation into the deaths of some of the victims whose bodies were discovered at a dump site in Kware, Mukuru slums, Nairobi.

The suspect, Collins Jomaisi Khalisia, was apprehended Monday morning in Kayole, where he was hiding, officials said.

It was also disclosed that he stayed around 500 metres away from the Kware dumpsite, where at least ten horribly disfigured women’s bodies were retrieved in an operation.

According to authorities, the Khalisia confessed to the serial killings.

He was pursued to a residence in Kayole, where officials claimed he was once again attempting to lure a victim into his death trap.

According to sources, a raid on Khalisia’s home resulted in the recovery of 10 mobile phones, seven identity cards, ten SIM cards, a panga, gloves, many sacks similar to those found with remains at the dump site and ropes.

“We believe we have a key and prime suspect in the murder of people whose bodies have been found dumped in the Kware area,” stated one officer.

Detectives from DCI headquarters in the operation also tracked down money withdrawn from the most recent murder victims.

Police described the revelations as a breakthrough in the investigation, which had imperilled the administration amid allegations of extrajudicial killings.

A mobile phone belonging to one of the victims thus far named, Josephine Owino, was discovered from the suspect in custody.

So far, two ladies, including Josephine, have been recognised.

Josephine went missing on June 26, and the second victim went missing on June 28.

Josephine’s sister reported receiving a call from a man who said he was with the victim, and did not return home.

Her body was discovered stuffed in a sack at the dump site.
