Police Reveals Disease NTV Journalist Rita Tinina Was Suffering From Before Her Death

    Veteran journalist Rita Tinina was found dead in her room by her house girl. Police say Tinina, 46, was found dead in her house along Laikipia Road In Kileleshwa, Nairobi on Sunday, March 17 in the morning.

    She was supposed to be on duty at NTV where she worked as Output Producer but failed to report. This prompted the managers at her place of work to send her colleague to the house where the body was found.

    According to a police report at the Kilimani Sub-County and Kileleshwa Police Station, Police revealed how they were alerted into the  sudden death incident that shook the community.

    At approximately 2:30 PM, Helen Silau Njaga, aged 58 and the eldest sister of the deceased, reported to authorities the tragic discovery of her sister, Ntanina Yiapan.

    According to the report filed, Helen Silau Njaga received a phone call earlier in the day at around 10:45 AM from Robert Nagila, a colleague of the deceased.

    Nagila informed her that Ntanina Yiapan, a 46-year-old Maasai female and esteemed journalist at Nation Media Group, was found unconscious in her bedroom at Brooklyne Apartments, House No. B6, located along Laikipia Road in Kileleshwa.

    Upon arriving at the scene, Helen Silau Njaga immediately sought the assistance of emergency medical services.

    Tragically, paramedics confirmed that Ntanina Yiapan had passed away before their arrival.

    At the time of her passing, Ntanina Yiapan resided in the apartment with her 8-year-old daughter, Mia Malaika, and a house help named Nelius Mwihaki Macharia, aged 36.

    The report indicated that Ntanina Yiapan had a history of epilepsy and had been suffering from a severe fever for the past five days, details provided by her sister, Helen Silau Njaga.

    Authorities, including the duty officer from Kileleshwa and Kilimani Q10, visited the scene, which was processed by the standby SOC Nairobi. Upon examination, no physical injuries were found on the body.

    As part of the investigation, the body was transferred to Umash Morgue for preservation, pending autopsy. The case is being handled by the DCI Kilimani division.
