President Uhuru Kenyatta and his family on Saturday hosted the traditional itara marriage ceremony for his first born son Jomo.
The event was successfully held in Gatundu.
Itara is a Kikuyu traditional ceremony during which the soon-to-be bride’s family visits the groom’s home to see where their daughter will be staying once she is married.
Jomo and his partner were dressed in Kikuyu traditional regalia.
Among those who welcomed President Uhuru’s new in-laws were his mother and former first lady Mama Ngina Kenyatta.
Large screens were set for visitors who could not fill in the president’s Gatundu home to follow up the ceremony.
Among those who attended were MP Ferdinand Waititu who is eyeing the Kiambu governor’s seat.
