Pamela Mburo, a Kenyan living in Texas, is one of 60 contestants who will fight for the 2024 Favourite Chef title, presented by celebrity chef, Carla Hall.

She was selected for the competition after the organisers recognized her culinary prowess which she displayed on her Facebook profile.

“The team reached out to me and sent me an application form to apply and participate in the competition. Only sixty participants from all over the world were selected to take part in the competition,” Pamela stated.

In the competition, contestants vie for votes, meaning the contestant who receives the greatest number of votes emerges victorious.

The winner will be featured on Taste of Home magazine’s cover and rewarded with an additional Ksh 3.3 million ($25,000).

“To be among the participants is a big deal. Making sure people get to know our culture and exposing Kenya through the food element is a great win for us,” Pamela said.

In an interview, Pamela noted that she was born and raised in Kenya but moved to the United States to join her parents over two decades ago.

“When we were young, my mom used to farm, and I used to watch her grow a lot of things. That is how the whole journey started. When I was about nine years old, I convinced my mother to give me a piece of land to grow my own things,” she shared.
