Olunga delighted as MOFA Academy arrive in Sweden ahead of Youth World Cup

Harambe Stars captain Michael Olunga has expressed his delight after his side Michael Olunga Football Academy (MOFA) arrived in Sweden for the Gothia U17 Youth World Cup.

MOFA and Kitale-based Mighty Eagles Academy are the two Kenyan sides set to feature in the youth tournament which will test their mettle to the limit.

Split in two groups, MOFA Academy arrived in batches of 10 players each on Friday and Saturday.

“MOFA to the world. Kuifanya properly,” said a proud Olunga after the team touched down in Gothenburg.

The two teams have been playing a series of friendly matches across the country in preparation for the tournament.

MOFA will begin their campaign against IFK Norrkoping on Monday before facing Deportivo Cali on Tuesday and complete their group matches against Kalmar on Wednesday.

There are a total of 24 invited teams, 12 from Sweden, and as many from Europe and the rest of the world.

They are divided in groups of four with the tournament played in a round robin format after which the top two proceed to the playoff

MOFA are led by coach George Owoko at the tournament that is giving the young players an opportunity to showcase their talents at an international stage.
