The National Youth Service (NYS) is set to recruit 15,000 youth next month.

This was announced by Public Service, Youth and Gender Cabinet Secretary Sicily Kariuki. She added that at the same time, 15,000 youth will graduate from the training programme.

NYS recruitment has been increased by 4,000 from 11,000.

Ms. Kariuki was speaking in Embu County where she disbursed cheques from the Women Enterprise Fund.

The new recruitment exercise will come as the youth service seeks to redeem itself from the multi-million theft scandal that rocked it last year.

In the scandal, over Sh. 700 million is estimated to have been lost.
