Nurses at Moi Referral go on strike

Nurses at the Moi Referral Hospital have gone on strike. The nurses went on strike to demand for the implementation of their CBA on higher salaries and allowances.

“We are sorry we have been forced to strike instead of serving the public. It’s two-way traffic between us and the employer. There should be compromise where necessary,” said Kennedy Orangi, chairman of the nurses union at the hospital.

The chairman noted basic salaries and allowances are to be increased in line with the deal.

“We negotiated on monetary and other issues in the CBA. We negotiated working hours, pension and progression as per our carders,” he said.
