A man accused of stabbing a sex worker with a chisel is accused of assault after he was
almost lynched by bystanders at a sex den in Majengo, Nairobi.
After stabbing the woman in the chest on January 17, Mohamed Barak Sam was prosecuted
at Makadara Law Courts for illegally attacking and inflicting physical harm to the woman.
Police managed to save Mr. Sam from an angry mob just in time, but by that point, his entire
body had been severely injured. He could scarcely stand up when he appeared in
court on Thursday due to the wounds.
Mr. Sam had approached the woman to seek her services. They did not complete
the encounter, though, and they argued. He allegedly requested a return, but
according to the woman's police complaint, Mr. Sam had not made any payment.

It is claimed that Mr. Sam flashed a chisel during the ensuing fight and wounded the
complainant in the chest before fleeing. Members of the public later found him and executed
mob justice on him. Patrolling police officers intervened and carried him to the Kenyatta
National Hospital (KNH), where he received treatment and was later discharged.

Mr. Sam claimed he shattered both of his legs during the event when contesting the assault
allegation before Senior Resident Magistrate Mercy Malingu.
Ms. Malingu ruled that he be returned to KNH for additional treatment after releasing him on
an Sh10,000 cash bail. He used crutches to leave the court. Mr. Sam would later be led back to
Shauri Moyo police station to complain of severe hurt after suffering injuries during
    the beating.

The assault case will be addressed on January 23
