Hate speech charges against Machakos Senator Johnson Muthama have been dismissed by court.

Chief magistrate Daniel Ogembo ruled that the case was an abuse of the court process.

He further ruled that it was wrong to have the senator face trial for an offense committed last year while his co-accused are being charged with utterances made this year.

The Machakos senator was charged alongside Cord’s colleagues Junet Mohammed (Suna East), Timothy Bosire (Kitutu Masaba) and Jubilee lawmakers Moses Kuria (Gatundu South), Ferdinand Waititu (Kabete) and Kimani Ngunjiri (Bahati).
