Michael Kyengo, who was kidnapped and found brutally murdered, has been buried in Machakos.

The burial ceremony saw family members and area leaders lash out over the killing and demand that the government acts quickly to prosecute the suspects.

“Nobody is above the law and we need to respect the human rights and the dignity of the society,” Matungulu lawmaker Stephen Mule said.

Fr. Michael Kyengo was kidnapped last month while driving from his Tala home in Machakos.

He was later found brutally murdered and his body buried in a shallow grave in Embu, which is approximately three-hours away from Machakos.

On Monday during the requiem mass, his family’s representative Nicholas Masyuki said the love of money is a vice that has made people devalue human life.

“You can’t get rid of life because of money,” he said adding that the clergy should sensitize people against the vice.

The mass that took place at Katoloni Pastoral Centre on Monday was led by the Machakos Catholic Diocese Bishop Norman King’oo.

Until his death, Fr. Kyengo had been serving as an assistant priest in Thatha parish, Machakos Diocese.

He had been ordained as a priest in 2012.
