Martha Karua: I didn’t say I’ll support Uhuru for 2017

Narc Kenya leader Martha Karua has said she did not declare her support for President Uhuru Kenyatta’s re-election in  next year’s general elections.

Speaking on Citizen TV on Wednesday, Ms Karua said she will not necessarily support President Kenyatta and has left each of her party branches to make their choice of candidate for the presidency.

She said the 30 branches were free to choose President Kenyatta, Cord leader Raila Odinga, ANC leader Musalia Mudavadi or any other candidate.

Ms Karua said the Kirinyaga party branch and others in the Mt Kenya region had made clear their decision to support President Kenyatta, which she had no problem with.

“But as a party leader, I should be hesitant to make any statements that take away the choice of other branches. I am going to respect that, I am not going to be boxed in,” said Ms Karua.
