The race for Malava Constituency is changing after the official nomination of Hon. Joab Manyasi as the Democratic National Alliance (DNA) candidate for the upcoming by-election. His announcement at the party’s headquarters in Karen, Nairobi, indicates not just a new candidate but also the potential for a different leadership style focused on community connections and practical service.
Manyasi, an experienced civil engineer and public servant, knows the Malava political scene well. He has previously run for office with both Ford Kenya and ODM. His move to DNA shows a new direction, highlighting his evolving political goals and commitment to empowering local communities.
What makes Manyasi stand out is his focus on the daily challenges facing residents in Malava, particularly farmers, youth, and women. His work has given him a grounded perspective that blends technical skills with social advocacy.

At the event, DNA Party Leader Hon. Godfrey Kanoti stated that Manyasi’s candidacy is about “redefining leadership and delivering dignity to the people.” He also mentioned that DNA plans to conduct an inclusive campaign based on listening, learning, and collaborating with local communities.
For Manyasi, this journey is personal. “I’ve lived the Malava story. This campaign is not about promises; it’s about action, respect, and restoring faith in leadership,” he shared.
With the IEBC likely to announce the by-election date soon, DNA’s campaign efforts are already underway, promising an approach focused on people and dialogue that could change the constituency’s political landscape.
