Lukresia Robai: Nurse Captured Dancing For Young Patient Lands WHO Gig

Lukresia Robai, the Kenya Medical Training College (KMTC) student who went viral for dancing to her patients in hospital wards, has seen another breakthrough.

The Kitale-based nurse was among those invited by the World Health Organisation (WHO) to entertain attendees during the 76th session of the World Health Assembly in Geneva, Switzerland.

The Seventy-sixth World Health Assembly is meant to celebrate the organization’s 75th anniversary with a theme of; saving lives and driving health for all.

“I was invited by the World Health Organisation to participate in Walk the Talk Health for All. My experience at the event has been great.” She said.

Her magical dance moves to a popular Swahili song ‘Mkono wa Bwana’  by Tanzania’s Zablon Singers earned her the praise of BBC journalist Mercy Juma who posted;

“When the East Africa Church and club banger features at Walk the Talk opening ceremony, rest assured, we represented the motherland.”

Robai became an online sensation in November 2022 after a TikTok video of her dancing for a sick baby in a hospital ward went viral on social media.

At the time, Robai was a nursing intern working at Kitale Teaching and Referral Hospital. Her act boosted the reputation of health practitioners for what most Kenyans said was a kind gesture.

She was gifted a four days holiday in Zanzibar by a Kenyan tour company Expedition Maasai Safaris. The tour company also posted on its social media pages that Robai would be their Brand Ambassador for one year.

Trans Nzoia County government also pledged to clear her school fees and promised her a job upon graduation.
