Celebrated Kenyan journalist and CNN international correspondent Larry Madowo recently took to his Facebook to share his disappointment over a caricature drawn of him. The artwork which depicted Madowo with sparse and distinct beard hairs and large teeth, was far from flattering. Larry posted a collage featuring his actual photo alongside the artist’s attempt.
In his Facebook post, Larry Madowo wrote, “Is this fair for me?ðŸ˜ðŸ˜ðŸ˜” Adding a touch of humor to his disappointment, he continued, “Who paid Deng (the artist) to finish me?” The post quickly went viral, eliciting a mix of reactions from his followers. Some poked fun at the artist’s rendition while others empathized with the journalist.
Larry Madowo is however no stranger to controversy. He has previously faced criticism for his coverage of the leaking terminal roofs at Jomo Kenyatta International Airport (JKIA). This incident led to a heated online spat between him and Roads and Transport Cabinet Secretary Kipchumba Murkomen, who accused Madowo of focusing solely on negative news about Kenya.
