Laikipia Senator and veteran politician G.G Kariuki has died.
According to family sources the veteran politician, 78, was admitted to the hospital last week and was pronounced dead at 11 pm on Thursday night in the presence of his family members.
He served as a Minister in President Jomo Kenyatta and Daniel Arap Moi governments. He is the fourth senator to pass on in the current Senate. Other senators who have passed on include Mutula Kilonzo (Makueni), Otieno Kajwang (Homa Bay), and Juma Boy (Kwale).
He was the only serving lawmaker who had also served in the first Parliament after Kenya’s independence in 1963.
