KCB in talks with Kimanzi over vacant managerial post

The bankers are in search of a new coach after the departure of Zedekiah ‘Zico’ Otieno who left following the expiry of his contract at the end of last month.

KCB feels that Kimanzi has the pedigree of taking them to the next level after failing to mount any proper challenge in the league despite starting the season strongly in recent seasons.

“There have been talks between Kimanzi and KCB in recent weeks and there is hope that a deal will be struck season before they begin their preseason training which should begin in less than a fortnight,” a source in KCB camp told Pepeta.

Kimanzi’s last outing in the league came with Mathare United where he stepped down in 2019 to concentrate on his duty as the Harambee Stars assistant coach where he was later promoted to the head coach position.

The tactician has previously handled Sofapaka FC and Tusker FC and his experience will come in handy for a club that has the needed resources to match any team in the Kenyan top flight.

Earlier in the week, reports had emerged that the bankers would consider engaging Robert Matano who is set to leave Tusker, should their talks with Kimanzi hit a snag.
