Kakamega Homeboyz midfielder Moses Mudavadi has opened up about why he failed to join the Harambee Stars’ provisional squad despite being called up by coach Engin Firat.

In an interview with the Star, Mudavadi cited pressing family issues that required his immediate attention as the reason for his failure to honour the national team call-up.

He expressed his appreciation for the timely call-up, which came at the peak of his career, but stated that he was unable to make it due to the unforeseen circumstances.

Mudavadi’s absence from the national team raised eyebrows, with some fans questioning his commitment to playing for the country.

However, the midfielder has moved to clarify the situation, stating that he had informed the federation of his inability to honour the call-up.

“It is important to communicate why I didn’t honour the invite because no one from the federation has made a follow-up to find out why I didn’t show up,” Mudavadi said.

He further revealed that he had received the call-up while he was in Nairobi but immediately received another call from home requiring him to attend to urgent family matters.

After resolving the issues, it was too late for him to join the squad that was preparing for a friendly match against Iran in Tehran.

Mudavadi’s call-up to the national team had been a source of pride for the midfielder, who described it as a motivation to work harder.

Mudavadi is a seasoned player with a wealth of experience.

He is considered one of the most talented midfielders in the Kenyan Premier League and has been instrumental in Homeboyz’s recent success.
