Former Kiambu Governor William Kabogo has advised Ferdinand Waititu on the path to take after his impeachment by the Senate on January 29.

Taking to his social media platforms on Tuesday, February 4, Kabogo urged Waititu to shelve his attempts to challenge his impeachment in the court.

Kabogo told Waititu that he was wasting much of his time trying to pursue a horse that had already bolted while there were more pressing problems that required his immediate attention.

“My free unsolicited advice to Ferdinand Waititu, your removal was people-driven, pushing and trying to come back in which one way will only aggravate things and cause you more pain.

“Concentrate rather on your defense at the criminal proceedings at Milimani Law Courts. I wish you well Sir,” he wrote.

Waititu moved to court on January 30, 2020, a day after the Senate voted to uphold the decision by Kiambu County Assembly to impeach him on grounds of gross abuse of office.

Waititu sued the Senate, Kiambu County Assembly and speakers of the two houses as well as his deputy-turned-governor, James Nyoro, for ejecting him from the top county seat.

In his filed case documents, he argues that he was unlawfully kicked out of office by MCAs on December 19, 2019, and the disputed resolution was passed on January 29.

Through his lawyers, he claimed that Kiambu County Assembly’s motion was passed by 57 members which were below the required threshold of 62 as required in the County Government Act.

Kabogo’s advice was based on the ongoing case where Waititu has been charged alongside his wife and other Kiambu officials of embezzling cash to a tune of Ksh588 million which was lost during the 2017/2018 financial year.

The funds were allegedly lost through irregular procurement of a tender for the upgrading of various gravel roads to bituminous status in Kiambu County.
