Former KTN investigative journalist and Africa Uncensored CEO John Allan Namu’s story ‘The Profiteers’ has landed him an international award, months after KTN News refused to air the story.
Announcing the win on Thursday, Namu said that he was excited that his Africa Uncensored team had won a Trace International award for investigative reporting.

He also noted that this makes them the first African team to win the coveted prize, and for the story that was eventually shared through their YouTube Channel.

John Allan Namu’s three part investigative story ‘The Profiteers’ exposed the lavish life style of South Sudan leaders and how they looted and stashed their wealth in Kenya and Uganda.
According to the Africa Uncensored boss, KTN News refused to air the expose because they wanted some parts edited out, as one of the mentioned individuals refused to comment when Namu reached out.

“They were largely happy with the story, but wanted to remove certain parts of it as they sought comment from an adversely mentioned person. We disagreed, given that we had already sought fair comment from this person. So we differ with the decision by @KTNNews to hold the story, but we respect it. They have their platform and we have ours. We feel that we have met the threshold for it to be seen by the public, and for the public to judge it on its own merit,” said Allan Namu in a tweet.
