Jacque Maribe to be detained for 10 days

Jacque Maribe in Court: Popular Citizen TV News anchor Jacque Maribe has been presented in court.

Ms. Maribe was presented at the Kiambu Law Courts where the prosecution sought permission to detain her for 10 more days.

The court allowed the request and now Ms. Maribe will remain in custody pending full investigations into the brutal murder of Monical Nyawira Kimani.

Ms. Kimani was found murdered in her house in Kilimani. Her throat had been slit and she was discovered in a bathtub where police believe she was dumped to get rid of evidence.

Following investigations, the police arrested Joseph Irungu alias Jowie as the prime murder suspect. Jowie was engaged to Ms. Maribe and was driving the news anchor’s car on the day he reportedly committed the offense.

Ms. Maribe is said to have had knowledge that Jowie had committed the crime and tried to take him to several hospitals after he reportedly shot himself in her bedroom in a suicide attempt.

Her neighbour Brian Kasaine will also be arraigned after a gun that was used by Irungu to allegedly shoot himself was found in his house.

Ms. Maribe is being represented by prominent lawyer Katwa Kigen. She is a recipient of the Head of State Commendation presidential award. Ms. Maribe’s career on tv has been splendid and she was at the centre of the recently relaunched star studded Citizen Tv.

Ironically, it was Ms. Maribe who broke the news of Monica Nyawira’s death on Tv. Ms. Nyawira, who was buried in Nakuru on Friday last week, had just arrived from South Sudan and was due to travel to Dubai.

Strikingly, the media has drawn parallels that both Ms. Kimani and the prime suspect Jowie Irungu’s parents are preachers. Previously, Jowie is said to have worked as a mercenary in the middled east. He is also associated with prominent Jubilee politicians and was a bodyguard to former politician Joyce Lay.
