Jackie Vike aka Awinja, Mourns Papa Shirandula

Jacky Vike, popularly known as Awinja, has said that 2020 was the worst year for her due to losing her father figure and mentor Papa Shirandula alias Charles Bukeko.

“Woah 2020!! I don’t know where to start, but it has been the worst year for me, a painful one, the death of this father/mentor of mine really affected me in ways I cannot explain but we heal with time,” Vike posted on social media.

She further noted the key role that Shirandula had played in her career.

The talented actress also recalled the burial of Papa Shirandula alleging that the burial process for Papa still daunted her.

“I still feel everything was done for TV because I have attended and seen burial of “COVID 19” cases and it was not the same as Papa’s,” she noted.

She pointed out that despite mourners being at the burial site, they had to watch the event from a distance.

Vike noted that excessive fumigation by the Ministry of Health officials instilled fear and added sadness to the family, relatives, and mourners.

“After the burial, Nairobians were literally chased from the homestead! This really broke Mama Papa’s heart. She couldn’t understand everything that was going on. It was never the same after we left,” she stated.

The late Charles Bukeko died on the morning of Saturday, July 18, after he was rushed to Karen hospital due to breathing complications.

This sent the TV drama and acting community in mourning as scores of people shared their thoughts and detailed the pivotal role that Papa Shirandula played in their careers.

Comedian and media personality, Felix Odiwour alias Jalang’o also confessed that his breakthrough in the comedy industry came after his time on the Papa Shirandula show.

Recently, Awinja and the Papa Shirandula cast had visited the graveyard to commemorate the thespian.

Accompanied by Kenneth Gichoya alias Njoro and Jackie Nyaminde alias Wilbroda, they revealed that they were yet to come to terms with his demise.
