Jackie Maribe Speaks Hours After Absconding Today’s Court Ruling

Former Citizen TV news anchor Jacque Maribe faced another twist in the ongoing Monica Kimani murder case as she missed a court hearing on January 26th.

The High Court, where the judgment in the case was scheduled to be delivered, granted a delay after Maribe, through her lawyer, cited illness.

Justice Nzioka, overseeing the proceedings, confirmed that the judgment was ready but opted to postpone the verdict until March 15, 2024, accommodating Maribe’s health concerns.

Taking to her social media platform shortly after the court’s decision, Maribe shared her perspective on the situation. Expressing her discontent, she stated, “To humiliate someone because of ill health is so wrong. And to make it clear, I have never missed court except once when I was ill.”

Maribe questioned the fairness of judging her based on her health condition, emphasizing her consistent attendance in court.

“Kwani mwili yangu imejengwa na matofali? Hata that time I supposedly sought time to travel we were only being respectable enough to tell the court and there was no due date interfering with that.” She added

This incident follows Maribe’s previous expression of dissatisfaction with the court’s handling of the case.

Taking to her Instagram account, a post she has since deleted, Maribe said she was fed up with the delays on the matter.

“It needs to stop. For five years I have respected the court, but this is too much. Justice delayed is justice denied. Stop putting people’s lives in limbo. I’m tired of this,” she said.

Maribe and Jowie are facing charges related to Kimani’s murder. The latter’s body was found at her residence in Lamuria Gardens Apartment, in Kilimani, Nairobi.

The prosecution called 35 witnesses who testified against the two.

Kimani was brutally killed in 2018.
