‘Italipuka Hapa!’ Angry Gov’t Official Threatens Terror Attack After Losing Court Battle

Police in Narok’s Transmara area are investigating a senior government official caught on camera invoking the name of a terror organisation with the aim of intimidating citizens in a private dispute pitting him against them.

In the video, which has since gone viral, Transmara South Deputy County Commissioner (DCC) Abdihakim Mohamud Jubat is seen intimidating residents of Olempongiot village in Transamara East.

“Kitu mimi nakudhibitishia, Leo mimi na kundi langu tutakuja kulala hapa …al shabaab itakuwa hapa…italipuka,” said Jubat in the video.

The incident happened after a ruling by the Environment and Lands Court in Kilgoris nullified the title deed to a 43-acre piece of land that the DCC claimed to have purchased in 2013 from the family of James Laton Konchellah.

The court ruled that Jubat’s purchase of the land was done in an illegal and irregular manner.

Jubat however claims to have appealed the decision.

“The court ruled that this land belongs to us and after waiting for an appeal from Jubat for 14 days we decided to occupy this land and then the DCC later came here with police and started threatening us,” Emmanuel Laton, a member of the aforementioned family, told Citizen Digital.

Laton’s family now wants the government to take action against the deputy county commissioner.

“The government should quickly intervene in this matter since the DCC used a known terrorist to threaten us,” Sampayon Laton said.

The disputed piece of land has allegedly been under police surveillance with the officers patrolling the land said to be acting on instructions from Jubat.

Citizen TV reached out to DCC Jubat who declined to comment on the matter instead directing our team to investigate officers handling the case.

Narok County Commissioner Isaac Masinde says the government is aware of the matter and that relevant security agencies are handling it.

He likewise appealed to both parties to maintain the peace but the question of how a DCC can invoke a terror group’s name to intimidate Kenyans, will be one that begs for answers from authorities.
