Chris Kirubi has for the first time talked about the impact the death of his friend the late Safaricom C.E.O Bob Collymore had on him.

Bob passed away in July 2019 after battling acute myeloid leukemia.

Chris who has also been battling cancer in an interview on Churchill Show now says the news of Collyomore’s death came as a shock.

‘HE USED TO COME TO MY HOUSE. BOB WAS MY VERY GOOD FRIEND.

HE WOULD COME AND ADVICE ME NOT TO GO TO THE PUBLIC DOMAIN.

BUT AS FOR HIM HE HAD TO AS HE WAS AN EMPLOYEE AND HE HAD TO BE IN THE PUBLIC DOMAIN EITHER ATTENDING MEETINGS OR JUST DOING OTHER THINGS.

I WAS VERY SHOCKED BY HIS DEATH. TO HONOR HIM I HAVE HIS PHOTOGRAPH IN MY BEDROOM.’

Asked on what the death of Bob Collymore taught him, Chris shared,

‘I DID NOT THINK I WOULD RECOVER. SO I THOUGHT OF THE MANY THINGS THAT I HAD OUTSTANDING (UNFINISHED) BEFORE I DIED.

I WAS BLAMING MYSELF FOR NOT ATTENDING TO ALL THE ISSUES I HAD PLANNED OUT IN MY HEAD.’

Asked why he felt like he needs to achieve more yet he already has done things most people will never be able to do in the lifetime, Chris responded,

‘I DON’T LIVE IN THE PAST, I LIVE IN THE FUTURE. WHEN I ACHIEVE SOMETHING I FORGET AND MOVE ON AND TRY TO THINK OF WHAT I CAN ACHIEVE NEXT.’
