Wetangula to Raila: You’ll lose in 2017, Western crowds won’t vote for you

The cracks in the Coalition for Reforms and Democracy (CORD) that have been bubbling under the face over who should be CORD’s flag bearer popped up again yesterday.

This is after CORD principal Moses Wetangula said told Raila Odinga that the huge crowds that have been gathering at his political rallies in Western Kenya will not vote for him.

Mr. Wetangula who was speaking on KTN further said that Raila Odinga should not vie for the presidency since he is not the best suited among the three CORD leaders to face Uhuru.

This was not the first time that Mr. Wetangula was alleging that Odinga shouldn’t contest in the 2017 general elections. During his rallies after launching his presidential bid, Mr. Wetangula was quoted widely as saying that Mr. odinga should support whoever shall win between Wetangula and Kalonzo rather than join the race.

Mr. Odinga has been in Western region in an attempt to counter a revolt within ODM that is being led by Budalang’i MP Ababu Namwamba.

“It is now time for our brother Raila with all his dynamism and support that he enjoys to support a fresh team that is able to deliver,” Wetang’ula told KTN.

At the interview, Wetang’ula said the time has come for Raila to bring in fresh ideas and people that will support the party without losing hope in the process.

“People vote for you unapita unaibiwa, unapita unaibiwa wanaanza kufikiria ya kwamba hata tukipigiwa kura pengine zitaibiwa (people vote for you, the votes are stolen and they start to think that even if they vote for you again the same thing will happen ) it will be the same thing,” he said.
