Tanzanian superstar Diamond Platnumz demanded pay from his ex-lover Tanasha Donna to make an appearance at her Donnatella EP launch held at the Sarit Centre Expo on January 31, 2020.

This is according to the former NRG presenter turned singer.

Relieving the night of the launch during a phone interview with NBS – a Ugandan TV station, Donna claimed that he declined to show up after their teams differed on pay, among other issues.

Donna narrated that the misunderstanding, a result of which she said was the mixing of pleasure and business, led to the Wasafi Classic Baby (WCB) boss bailing on her at the last minute.

“It was a lot to do with when business and love meet there’s always… that’s why they say don’t mix business with pleasure because something always seems to go wrong somewhere.

“So, I can say it was an issue with the management in terms of payment and a lot of other things that came behind it. But it was more business-related as to why he decided not to show up last minute,” she said.

“You were supposed to pay him to show up at your concert?” Posed the show host.

“Yes, I was can you believe that? I was already doing everything on my own, me and my team. I have a small team but an amazing hardworking team. We did every single thing on our own from our pocket when it came to that event. So we really struggled. It was a hustle to do it,” Donna responded.

The mother of one went on to reveal that it cost her an arm and a leg to pull it off: “We flew everyone in from our own connections, our own pockets and then last minute, you know how events happen. I don’t know if you’ve ever worked in events but you know how sponsors will promise something and they don’t end up giving at the end of the day so things went a little south and as you know Diamond himself is not a cheap artiste; he is quite expensive, so, yeah, there was a whole back and forth with the management because of payment and a whole lot of stuff.”

Explaining via social media why he failed to turn up, Platnumz had at the time said he flew back to Dar es Salaam to take care of a few ‘pressing matters’.

“Due to an emergency at home, I have been forced to fly back to Dar es Salaam immediately to solve the matter,” he wrote.

Seconding him was WCB signee Mbosso who revealed during an interview that the team was summoned back by their management.

“I remember we went to Nairobi, there was a show we were supposed to do and it didn’t happen. We came back. I was told I had to go back to Dar es Salaam with immediate effect.

“There were things that were not right. Who am I to argue with manager Babu Tale, Sallam, and Mkubwa Fella? I went back home with my brother, Diamond. We were even seated next to each other,” he said.
