‘Hio ni story ya jaba’ – Olunga’s brother dismisses exit rumours

Michael Olunga’s brother Victor Ogada has stated that the Harambee Stars striker is not out of contract with Al Duhail SC.

There have been rumours that Olunga’s deal with the Qatar Stars League champions is coming to an end in June 2023. Consequently, he has been linked with a number of clubs.

The top three clubs linked with the Stars League’s top scorer were Premier League outfit Everton, Galatasaray of Greece, and Corinthians of Brazil.

However, Ogada has dismissed all those rumours, but said he cannot rule out the possibility of his brother making a transfer move in the summer.

“He is not out of contract, first of all. Hizo ni story za jaba [Those are petty stories that are far from the truth],” Ogada – a former Ushuru FC player, was quoted as saying during a local show.

“I cannot doubt anything in football, but the fact is that he still has a running contract with Al Duhail.

“Getting him out of Al Duhail is going to be a bit difficult. His contract runs for the next three seasons, but in football, you cannot rule out anything.”

Olunga is expected to be a player in demand during the transfer window after another impressive season with the Qatar club.

He emerged as the top scorer of the league for the second straight season, and in the last season, he was the AFC Champions League’s top scorer.

In a recent interview, the former Gor Mahia, Thika United, and Kashiwa Reysol attacker did not comment on the rumours about his possible next destination.
