Gor Mahia and Kenya Police will be required to part with six million shillings in order to land the highly-rated Kakamega Homeboyz attacking midfielder Hillary ‘Seba’ Juma.
The two clubs have registered interest in the player who starred in the second leg of the past campaign, netting six league goals in the final leg of the term.
The 19-year old also, put in impressive shows in the Mozzart Bet Cup where he was named the man of the match in the quarterfinals.
According to Homeboyz chairman Cleophas Shimanyula, clubs harboring the hopes of signing the midfielder will pay a hefty amount.
“I value him at six million shillings. I will not accept an offer worth 5.9 million shillings. The player has a lengthy contract with us and anyone who wants to sign him should meet the set valuation,” he said.
Shimanyula said he had learnt his lesson the hard way three years ago when he watched Peter Thiong’o join rivals AFC Leopards for free at a time when he was on top of his game.
Thiong’o ditched Homeboyz for Leopards in November 2020 in a transfer that elicited mixed reactions from football enthusiasts.
“We have been moulding young players and losing them for free or getting peanuts from their sale. A good case study was when we lost Thiong’o to Leopards,” he stated.
Juma, joined Homeboyz on a five-year-long deal in February from Wazito who are hoping to retain their top-flight status in the promotion/relegation playoff.
He says he is not interested in swapping the opportunity to feature in the CAF Confederation Cup for any amount at the moment.
” Several clubs have contacted me but I am not keen on making a move at the moment. Homeboyz believed in my abilities in the mid-season transfer window and the best I can offer is loyalty. I also want to play in CAF matches with the club,” said the former Mombasa Elite player.
