Harambee Stars forward Michael Olunga speaks of returning back to Europe

Kenyan footballer Michael Olunga has been enjoying a successful season with Qatari club Al Duhail, winning the Qatari Stars Cup and currently sitting second on the league’s top scorers chart with 14 goals.

Despite being linked with a move to Europe, Olunga has shut down talks of a return, stating that his main priority is to score goals and help his current club succeed.

In an interview with The Peninsula, Olunga denied claims of leaving the Qatar based club but instead saying he is focused on scoring goals for the club in a bid to secure various titles.

“The only thing I can think of is scoring goals for Al Duhail. That is my main priority,” Olunga said.

This comes after the former Gor Mahia forward was linked with a move to Turkish giants Fenerbahçe in the summer transfer window.

Olunga has had an impressive form, scoring 21 goals in 48 games for Kenya. His fight for kissing the goal has caught the attention of European clubs, including Scottish giants Rangers, but Olunga remains focused on his current club and the collective effort of winning the Qatari league title.

“I will feel much more proud to have the QSL title than the top scorer title,” Olunga said, emphasizing his commitment to helping Al Duhail become champions. He also acknowledged the responsibilities that come with playing for a big team like Al Duhail and expressed his determination to take on those responsibilities and contribute to the team’s success.
