Harambee Stars defender Erick Ouma grabs goal and assist in Sweden

Harambee Stars left back Erick ‘Marcelo’ Ouma grabbed a goal and an assist as his side AIK played Brommapojkarna to a two-all draw in a Swedish top tier duel staged at the Friends Arena on Saturday.

The full back who has an insatiable affinity for overlapping found the back of the net in the 45th minute after he was pit through by Anton Janos.

The goal was enough to draw AIK level heading to the half time break as the visitors had taken the lead in the 17th minute through Alexander Johansson.

There was a dramatic end in the dying minutes of the game as Brommapojkarna regained the lead in the 86h minute through an own goal by Omar Faraj.

The heartbreak by AIK fans and Omar who was unfortunate to turn the ball into his own net however, lasted for a minute as Marcelo set up the former to level matters.

Meanwhile, Mamelodi Sundowns, home to Kenyan defender Brian Mandela beat 10-man Moroka Swallows 1-0 at the Lucas Moripe Stadium to book a spot in the semi-finals of the MTN8 on Saturday afternoon.

Mandela was however not involved in the match and wasn’t included in the list of players who missed the clash due to injuries.

The central defender started from the bench in the last league assignment against Kaizer Chiefs that ended in their favour after humbling the fellow giants 2-1.

Themba Zwane scored the all-important goal against Swallows to see his side progress to the last eight of the tournament.

Swallows finished down with ten men after Andile Jali, who joined interestingly joined the club before the start of the 2023/24 season from Mamelodi fouled Teboho Mokeona.
