Former Vihiga Queens coach Alex Alumira hints at Jentrix Shikangwa’s European move

Former Vihiga Queens Alex Alumira, has suggested that  Harambee Starlets forward Jentrix Shikangwa, should consider going back to Europe while she continues to showcase her talent in the Tanzania Women’s Premier League.

Shikangwa’s outstanding displays for Simba Queens earned her the Serengeti Lite Women’s Premier League player of the month award for March.

Since joining Simba Queens,  Shikangwa has been in superb form, scoring 13 goals in 15 matches. This has attracted the attention of her former coach, who believes that she deserves a better deal abroad.

“I don’t think she needs pressure to move. She’s already at a good club and we can only hope she gets a better deal abroad. Her stats are encouraging and I’m sure she’s going to move,” Alumira said as quoted by the star.

Alumira, who is currently coaching in the Tanzania Women’s League, gave Shikangwa her debut in 2018, and together, they won three WPL titles with Vihiga Queens.

He has always believed in her abilities, describing her as a hardworking player who always strives for excellence.

“I gave her debut in 2018 and she’s been fantastic throughout. She deserved the award if her performance are any barometer. She is a hardworking player who always strives for excellence. In football, it’s only time that can tell,” Alumira added.

Shikangwa’s achievements include being part of the Starlets’ team that won the Cecafa Women’s Championship in Tanzania in 2019.

She also helped Vihiga Queens win the Cecafa Club Champions League qualifiers in 2021 and played in the tournament proper in Egypt later that year.
