Decorated former Kenyan defender Sammy ‘Pamzo’ Omollo would cherish taking command of five-time Kenyan champions Ulinzi Stars.
The Soldiers are hunting for a permanent head coach after the acrimonious departure of Bernard Mwalala who defected to moneybags KCB after a near scandalous episode of rumors, absentia, denials, and eventual resignation.
Pamzo himself has been out of work since resigning as Police FC head coach alongside his assistant and another seasoned former Kenyan international defender Musa Otieno late last year.
The popular tactician who has coached Police FC, Tusker, Posta Rangers, and Mahakama FC is itching to get back to the touchline after what he termed the ‘longest lay-off ever in his coaching career’.
Speaking to Twiga, Pamzo hailed Ulinzi Stars as a talented, organized, and capable team that he would love to work with. “Ulinzi Stars is a good team, one any coach would love to be associated with. If called upon to take charge it would be a great honor,” he said
Pamzo has been out of work for close to five months since parting ways with Police. He boasts of great performances in his coaching spell especially at Tusker and as Gor Mahia’s assistant coach.
“I’m back after taking time off. This has been the longest lay-off for me ever since I started coaching and I just want to get back to doing what I love. If I find myself at Ulinzi Stars or at any other club I will offer my best as always,” he added
The Kenyan football circles are rife with rumors of Pamzo joining the flagship Kenya Defense Forces (KDF) football outfit but the tactician could neither confirm nor deny that he had been approached, only stating his willingness to join the club.
Clubs have regrouped for pre-season training with the Football Kenya Federation Premier League (FKFPL) penciled to kick off on 26th August for the 2023/2024 season.
